My humble workbench, where the magic all happens!

Hi! I'm Chip, the owner and primary crafter here at Heavy Leather Lore! I'm glad that you stopped by to read about my staff and I, for I feel that we are more than a business, we are here to have a lot of fun, and take you with us! If you've ever visited our booth, I'm sure hoping that you went away feeling that your visit was fun! We put a lot of effort into not just crafting, but entertaining as well! So if there's anything you want to ask me or my staff, just ask! I do also personally portray two major characters: The honorable Sir George, and that rascally pirate Black Roger. Little Liz (We-un)

Apprentice workbench, where the slave whip cracks hard!

I met Lizz at Mayfaire in 2007 (We call her Lizz to differentiate her from our special original Liz!). She had fashioned her own Amazon Outfit, which prompted me to ask her if she wanted a job! She agreed and has been with me since. A sturdy worker and fast learner, she had proved her worth in no time! In the fall of 2007 she was hit by a car while riding her bike and suffered a broken wrist. Healing quickly, she's back with me helping out in the shop and at faires!

Liz (Big-un)

Where would my life be without meeting Liz? Wonderfully talented, amazingly knowledgeable, a definite vision of the world, and a good spirit all blend to make her a true pleasure. First meeting briefly in 2004, she'll still ask me "What's my name?" just to mess with me. You can find her helping out in my booths at various faires, and even in my main shop on occasion.

She holds a BA in Technical and Production arts as a Graduate of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Scotland, and has made the study of the Elizabethan period her passion. When it comes to period clothing, there is none more talented and dedicated. But apart from that, she's just fun to have around! I am truly grateful to have her talent and friendship in my life.

Heavy Leather Lore Staff Requirements

Do you have a desire to become part of a Renaissance Faire? Perhaps we can help. We are always interested in finding help that can do good for us. Currently, we need help for Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, and maybe some Indiana and Florida shows. See our Show Schedule for current detailed listings.

What kind of help do we need?

Good sales help. Good with customers, friendly, easy to get along with, and having the ability to converse and discover what the customer really would like.
Good eye for detail. I like a clean merchant area. Space is limited, and an eye for organization is a plus.
Charismatic and self motivated.
Good models! Look good in our leather, and be able to carry yourself convincingly and in character while wearing it!

What you will get as a good staffer:

No Money yet! But...
Free entry into faire
A decent discount on our work
Possibly a basic leather outfit if you do well and last the season (which could include some or all of these items: bracers, pouch, belt, headband, basic corset or bodice)
The opportunity to tie up people in armor
Retail Sales Experience
Acting Experience
Potential for advancement (i.e. pay)
A great time!

You will be expected to do the following:

Help setup in the morning
Help break down in the evening
Answer questions to customers
Help customers try items on
Be honest with customers!
Retrieve stock from the store bins or vehicles
Carry our banner in the parades
Keep displays neat
Have a sense of humor!

The ideal staffer will be or have the following:

Reliable transportation
At least 18 years old
Your own period garb
Able to mimic an acceptable old world accent
Available all/most weekends
Responsible
The ability to interact with patrons!
Sales experience helpful
Acting experience helpful
Enthusiasm!
A strong work ethic
